Being Sex Positive means encouraging and normalizing open sexuality, in all its forms, and being receptive to new ideas. The United States has spent over $1.5 billion on abstinence-only sex education in an effort to keep teens from having sex. What this has done, instead, is further perpetuate the sexual ignorance.

Sex Positive Week will be open to the public. Over the course of three days, there will be panel-led discussions about the connections between sexuality, freedom, art, religion, the environment, health, and politics. This will be an opportunity for students and sex positive professionals to have an open discussion free of judgment. There will be three days of documentary screenings, workshops, presentations, and discussions dedicated to delivering a comprehensive, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic and Sex Positive education to CSULB students.

Sex Positive Week was first held in 2008 at CSULB. The event was the first of its kind to be held on campus at Long Beach. Presentations were given by Babeland and The Pleasure Chest on topics relating to female sexuality. Health professionals on- and off-campus gave presentations on health safety in relation to sexual awareness and sex positivity. Film screenings were presented, along with question and answer sessions for students and attendees.Sex Positive Week, CSULBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07652582579146558540noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6957007811748485195.post-90904927160856811252010-01-08T08:26:00.000-08:002010-01-08T08:28:53.212-08:00SEX POSITIVE WEEK 2010SEX POSITIVE WEEK 2010
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 - Thursday, February 11, 2010

More details to follow!

For any progressive, sex positive individuals and organizations who would like to be involved in Sex Positive Week, please email F.O.R.C.E. at force4change@yahoo.comSex Positive Week, CSULBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07652582579146558540noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6957007811748485195.post-53191705329610075622008-10-11T13:55:00.000-07:002008-10-11T15:21:34.485-07:00Recap of Sex Positive Week!
RECAP OF SEX POSITIVE WEEK

The event was fantastic! As a multi-state network of sex workers and advocates, we address locally
and nationally the violence that sex workers experience because of their criminal status. Operating in one of the most prominently violent societies today, sex workers in America experience this phenomenon pointedly in the context of their criminal status. SWOP works to educate policy-makers and the public on the institutional harms committed against sex workers, and advocates for alternatives.
SWOP promotes proven and effective social policy approaches to the sex industry. Berkowitz emerged from the epicenter of the epidemic as a community leader, demanding a solution to the problem before anyone else would pay attention. However, it was not Berkowitz' voice alone that sparked contention. SEX POSITIVE explores the explicit bravery of this unrecognized triumvirate, and their dire quest to save lives in the midst of unwavering dissent. Through the eyes of Mr. Berkowitz, the audience is made witness to a graphic testimony of sex, death, and betrayal, while placing the invention of ‘safe sex’ in a fresh and compelling context. (sexpositivethemovie.com)

Sex Positive Week, CSULBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07652582579146558540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6957007811748485195.post-51516757487808626692008-09-03T10:20:00.000-07:002008-09-22T08:55:27.129-07:00'Beyond Vanilla' film screening: Monday, October 6th

Beyond Vanilla

Film screening and Q&A with Dr. Patti Britton

Monday, October 6, 2008 at 3:30pm

Beyond Vanilla explores the kinkier aspects of sex on the other side of vanilla.

During Sex Positive Week, there will be panel-led discussions about the connections between sexuality, freedom, religion, the environment, health and politics. This will be an opportunity for students and sex positive professionals to have an open discussion free of judgment. Throughout the week, students will be able to submit questions for panel discussions anonymously, if they wish to do so.

For any progressive, sex positive individuals and organizations who would like to be involved in Sex Positive Week, please email us at theragzine@gmail.comSex Positive Week, CSULBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07652582579146558540noreply@blogger.com0
